A Deer Friend

I'm loving this long-weekend and the extra time to scrap; I was able to do this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge straight away - that's never happened before!!  I absolutely loved the layout Karen had for us this week.  Here's a look at the sketch:

And here's my card:

How cute is that deer?!  I picked up this adorable set, "Oh Deer!" by Technique Tuesday, when I was in Singapore last year.  I spent so much money on cardmaking supplies while I was there - they just have so many more products than we have.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out.  I don't make very many masculine cards but it's not from lack of trying!  I just usually end up embellishing them with a flower or butterfly which tends to make them look a bit girly!!

I also completed the inside which i really should do more often.

Well, that's all from me.  Have a great week!

Friday Sketchers Challenge

Hooray it's a long weekend, and we're staying around home which means extra time for making cards and scrapbooking!!  I found a great sketch online yesterday at Friday Sketchers so thought I'd give it a crack.  The prize is a voucher for My Favourite Things; I've been eyeing up their gorgeous stamps and dies for ages!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take:

I really enjoyed working with this sketch.  I love the detail in this Inkadinkado stamp, it's a fun one to colour in.  The sentiment strip says "Thanks", it's clear-embossed and looks a little hard to read in the photograph but it's fine IRL.  I thought this would be a great card to give to a neighbour or friend to say thanks for collecting the mail when we've been away on holiday.

Right, i'm off to enjoy more time playing in my studio!
Thanks for stopping in.

Finally a Sweet Sunday!

I've been a huge fan of Karen Giron's fabulous papercrafting for a while now - hers was one of the first blogs I found when I started cardmaking and I was (and still am!) totally in awe of her talent.  This is the first time i've participated in one of Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenges, or any challenge for that matter - exciting!

I'm not sure i love the finished layout - the colours I chose are way outside my comfort zone! - but it was fun to make.  I paper pieced the cupcake wrapper and coloured in the top with watercolour pencils.

This Kaisercraft cupcake stamp is one of my favourites, I popped it up on foam dots for a bit of dimension.  I finished the card off with a Riding Hood Red button threaded with a thin sliver of the Pink Pirouette cardstock - fun!

Thanks for checking out my first ever challenge card :)

Have a lovely day.

Behind The Times

Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday.  I had a lovely couple of weeks off, spending time at the beach and with friends and family.

I know that Christmas is well and truly over but I've got a Christmas card to show you today.  Since I'm new to this whole blogging thing, I didn't get around to posting many of the cards I'd made before the big day, so please bear with me as I really wanted to show this one off!

This was my first attempt at a Chrismtas card using "non-traditional" colours.  It's a very bright happy card and I love how it turned out.  The colours are SU's Pacific Point and Riding Hood Red and the stamps are my first ever JustRite set which I absolutely adore!  These cirular stamps create such clear crisp text, they seriously rock!

This is a fairly flat card.  The red circle is clear embossed and is popped up on foam dots.

Well, thanks for putting up with a bit of Christmas in January, and thanks for stopping by.
